White Rock Lake - East Lawther Trail ImprovementsThe East Lawther Trail Improvements will consist of the reconstruction of the main trail from the Mockingbird Pedestrian Bridge to just past the East Lawther turn around near the Corinthian Sailing Club. Main parts of the project are: · connecting the trail to the Mockingbird Pedestrian Bridge · rest points with seating at: o Boy Scout Hill o the proposed location of a new parking lot on the inland side of East Lawther near the White Rock Boat Club o Big Thicket o the end of the trail improvements · install a low water crossing over a draw just past Boy Scout Hill · a bridge & low water crossing at the heavy wooded area prior to Big Thicket · removal of the abandoned roadway at Big Thicket · a trail connection to Big Thicket · a new playground at Big Thicket · native grassland mitigation to address trail expansion through certain areas · tree mitigation to address any trees that need to come down for the improvements · portal entry markers at the east & west entrances to East Lawther on Mockingbird Lane · limited shoreline embankment erosion control · pick up litter signs @ picnic areas · no parking signs along East Lawther · monument signs at designated parking lots
Depending on how the bids come in, we may be able to include reconstruction of the following parking lots: Boy Scout Hill (lot A), the lot near the Mockingbird Pedestrian Bridge & kayak rentals (lot B), lot at the 1st pier near the White Rock Boat Club (lot D), the lot at the White Rock Boat Club (lot E), the lot at the boat ramp (lot F), the lot at the 2nd pier (lot I), and the lots at the Corinthian Sailing Club which will be reconfigured & expanded to service the Club & large events at the lake. As part of the White Rock Lake Master Plan 3 lots along the shoreline will be removed (lots C, G, H) , and a new lot constructed on the inland side of East Lawther near the White Rock Boat Club. A sidewalk will be installed connecting lots D, E, and F to the new lot & the trail. As stated above this work will only be performed is the bids come within budget.
